Canada

We just returned from our family vacation to Canada. Overall, we had a good time, but there were lots of ups and downs. One major down - the driving!!

While at the cabin, we had a few issues like the boat motor not working until the day before we left, running out of water, and millions of mosquitos, but we made the best of it! The kids' favorite past time was throwing "big, Big, BIG" rocks in the lake, poking at anything with sticks, taking "old fashioned" baths, and eating fresh wild strawberries.

Annabelle's least favorite part of the trip was definitley the mosquitos. The poor thing was eaten alive - she has at least 30 on her head alone. I guess she's just too sweet for those mosquitos to pass up!

Aiden's highlight was falling out of the pack-n-play while trying to escape. Oops! (or as he says, Oopie!) Then he decided to try escaping again, sucessfully this time. As my friend Lindsey and I were doing dishes, we heard the pitter patter of little feet above us, and we figured it wasn't a mouse (at least we hoped there wasn't a mouse upstairs that big!)

We usually get our drinking water from the spring that Matt's grandfather founded, but with the motor on the boat not working, that posed a small problem, thus causing us to run out of water. So, my friend Brent and I sucked it up and paddled the boat all the way to the spring and back to replenish our water supply. We were gone and hour and a half!! Needless to say, we were exhausted afterwards! Matt caught two fish while fishing off the shore, but being as he doesn't clean them, we released them back to go be with their families.

Although it was not the most relaxing trip to Canada, it was great to be able to take the kiddos up to the great outdoors and see the place where their Daddy spent his summers growing up. And it could have been worse...we could have been attacked by bears!
